Honoring our veterans
Gene is proud of his military service and his status as a Navy veteran. He served with the SeeBees (United States Naval Construction Battalions) during the Vietnam War, where he was an engineering aid draftsman. Gene has been a member of the Cazenovia American Legion Post 88 for the past three decades, currently serves as first vice commander, and for five years has served as co-chair and photographer of the Flags of Our Heroes committee of Honor Flight Syracuse.
Gene has been on eight missions to Washington, D.C., with Honor Flight Syracuse during which he photographs the veterans on the flight and documents the mission. He also serves as the photographer for Flags of Our Heroes, for which he honors the soldiers who did not make it home or did not live long enough to see the national memorial erected in their honor. He does this by photographing a memorial stand of the deceased veteran’s name, photo, and a flag in front of the appropriate military service monument. The veteran’s family then received an 8x10 photo of the memorial and a formal certificate from Honor Flight Syracuse. (For more information visit the Flags of Our Heroes page on the Honor Flight Syracuse website by clicking here).
Gene is honored to offer his photo services to active military personnel, military veterans and their families, American Legion and VFW posts and other military organizations.
